The Property Inspection Process Explained

Once you've signed up for our cottage caretaker services in Eastern Shore Nova Scotia, your property enters our professional care system. Our experienced team provides thorough seasonal home inspections throughout Guysborough County and the surrounding areas, ensuring your cottage receives the attention and protection it deserves year-round. Here's exactly what you can expect from our comprehensive property management service.

 

Our comprehensive cottage inspections are designed to catch potential issues before they become costly problems. Every visit includes thorough monitoring of key areas that matter most to seasonal homeowners.

Your Property is Added to Our Route​

  •  Typically, properties have 2 or 3 inspections per month depending on your insurance requirements and seasonal needs.

  • New routes are built at the beginning of every month, ensuring efficient and reliable cottage maintenance for all Eastern Shore NS properties in our care.

Entry Perimeter Walk Around​

  • Looking for any unauthorized entrances or exits from the property

  • Check for any vegetation that might interfere with the house structure

  • Assess overall property condition from the exterior

Interior Walk Through

  • Enter through the appointed door using your provided access

  • Walk through all living spaces

    • Verify no signs of damage, entry, or water leaks

  • Turn on/off lights to verify electricity is working properly

  • Check freezer and refrigerator temperatures to ensure appliances are functioning

  • Check for hot water availability

  • Monitor internal temperature to ensure heating systems are working

  • Walk through basement looking for potential water leaks or moisture issues

  • Silently wait in kitchen and bathrooms to listen for any critter scratches or activity

Exit Perimeter Walk Around

  • Look for any potential changes observed from the interior walk through

  • Secure all premises including doors and windows

  • Make detailed notes documenting the inspection

  • Take final photos for your records

Your Inspection Report

  • You will receive your Inspection Report within 48hrs of the inspection. 

    • Photos​

    • Observation Notes

    • Date of Inspection

 

Concerning observations will be reported immediately via phone call and will also be noted on the report.
